Job Summary:
We are seeking a creative and driven Biomaterials Scientist to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will apply expertise in materials science, biomedical engineering, and cell biology to design, develop, and characterize novel biomaterials for therapeutic applications. This individual will play a key role in developing next-generation materials to support drug delivery, regenerative medicine, and/or cell therapy platforms. They will also be an independent thinker and a team player.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, synthesize, and characterize biomaterials (e.g., polymers, hydrogels, scaffolds, nanoparticles) for biomedical applications.
Develop and optimize material formulations to support cell growth, differentiation, or therapeutic delivery.
Conduct in vitro and in vivo studies to evaluate biocompatibility, functionality, and performance of biomaterials.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams in biology, chemistry, engineering, and translational sciences.
Establish and maintain protocols for materials synthesis, processing, and characterization.
Analyze, interpret, and present experimental results to internal and external stakeholders.
Document experimental work in laboratory notebooks and contribute to technical reports, publications, and regulatory submissions.
Stay current with advances in biomaterials science and emerging biomedical technologies.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Biomaterials, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field; or M.S. with 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
Strong foundation in polymer chemistry, biomaterials synthesis, or materials characterization.
Hands-on experience with biomaterials characterization techniques (e.g., mechanical testing, rheology, SEM/TEM, spectroscopy, thermal analysis).
Knowledge of cell-material interactions and experience with mammalian cell culture.
Demonstrated ability to design and troubleshoot experiments independently.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with injectable hydrogels, biodegradable polymers, or nanomaterials for drug/cell delivery.
Familiarity with tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, or cell therapy applications.
Knowledge of GMP principles and regulatory considerations for medical devices or combination products.
Proficiency in computational modeling or materials informatics.
Track record of publications, patents, or contributions to translational research.
